• unresolved links (links that appear to link to other pages, references, or files belonging to the project, but for which the target could not be found)

• orphaned pages, references, or files (those that could not be reached by following links from the home page).

In the first category, a link which might be an HTML or relative link will not be shown as unresolved. As a special case, the content of the <file> tag of a reference is treated as a link to a file, and therefore is checked.

For historical reasons, files of size 0 and those references with a name that starts with the character ‘$’ are not checked in either category (they are not considered to be part of the project).
